"Unexpected extra attribute" message in Accessibility Verifier

  • Subject: "Unexpected extra attribute" message in Accessibility Verifier

Hi all,

I am using Accessibility Verifier on a program that I have written. I see a message (under the Role Verification section) saying "Unexpected extra attribute: AXTextInputMarkedRange". The message is related to a TextView control. This first message is followed with a large number of messages refering to Service menu entries available to highlighted content in that Text View.

Here is an example:

Role Verification (51 warnings)
warning: AXTextArea - "Notebook content editor", Unexpected extra attribute: AXTextInputMarkedRange
AXApplication - "Notebook" > AXWindow(AXStandardWindow) - "Notebook Entries" > AXScrollArea > AXTextArea - "Notebook content editor"

warning: AXMenuItem - "Import Text into SOHO Notes", Unable to get attribute's AXSize value (kAXErrorNoValue(-25212))
AXApplication - "Notebook" > AXMenuBar > AXMenuBarItem - "Notebook" > AXMenu > AXMenuItem - "Services" > AXMenu > AXMenuItem - "Import Text into SOHO Notes"

warning: AXMenuItem - "Import Text into SOHO Notes", Unable to get attribute's AXPosition value (kAXErrorNoValue(-25212))
AXApplication - "Notebook" > AXMenuBar > AXMenuBarItem - "Notebook" > AXMenu > AXMenuItem - "Services" > AXMenu > AXMenuItem - "Import Text into SOHO Notes"

[...]

I don't understand why these warnings are appearing, and there doesn't seem to be anything obvious in the Developer Documentation. Can anyone advise me about what these messages mean? Any clarification much appreciated.

Thanks,

Ian.
