As Luke has already pointed out, asking how to use a private,
undocumented framework on an Apple mailing list isn't exactly kosher.
Have you considered other solutions, like Karelia's open source iMedia
browser (http://www.karelia.com/imedia/)? It supports other media
types besides photos, and other image libraries such as Aperture and
Lightroom.

My question is this: In the above-link, they example shows how to
incorporate the play and find options at the bottom of the iLife
browser window and a way to turn it off for photos. But how do you
turn on only the search (but no play) option for photos?
