And that's a good thing. Why on earth would you want to create a new
project based on deprecated technology?

No, that is an incredibly stupid thing if it is in fact the case.  Only the 64-bit Carbon GUI API was deprecated. 

If in fact this is the way the Xcode SDK is now shipping and there will no longer be a Carbon application template in Xcode, I would really like to hear that from an official source.
