Oh man! Right you are, but things are more involved that it would seem.
If I have a project open that doesn't have the Page item in the
toolbar, then open another project that does have it (which I got from
another developer), Xcode automatically adds the Page item to the
first project.
But this only happens with that particular project I got from another
developer. It happens that I recreated that project and Xcode added
the Page item. Opening this newly created project (which still has the
Page item in the toolbar) doesn't cause the Page item to be added to
the project that doesn't have it (!?).
So no, it's not added by default, but Xcode does weird things here...
