I just found out why the debugger doesn't launch my

That's very annoying.
Is there a workaround for this, except for using an i386
architecture?
More recent versions of Xcode can launch your ppc version in Rosetta
under Intel, though debugging is not supported. Newer Xcode versions
also have the Active Architecture user interface that makes it easier
to set and see what architecture you're building for.
Is there any particular reason you're using 2.5 rather than any of the
six newer versions?
