In 3.1 and earlier, Go Back/Forward was completely file based. In 3.2 it's now selection based. If you bounce around within a file, Go Back/Forward tries to go back/forward to follow those jumps. The problem is that I hate it. It bounces around within the same method far too much, doesn't always put the selection back exactly where I'd expect it to, and when I want to go back to the previous *file*, it sometimes takes fooorrreeeevvvveeeerrrrr to get there.
Is there any way of making it be file-based again? Severals years of expectation and habits are now out the window and it's driving me nuts. I'm having to use the mouse a lot more.
Go Back/Go Forward navigation within text files now works like in Web browsers and other editors. As you edit, browse, and navigate, Xcode keeps a trail of interesting recent locations in each file, and Go Back now regresses through the locations rather than just by file, for the ◀ ▶ controls, the Go Back/Go Forward menu items, or their keyboard equivalents. To navigate by file, hold down the Shift or Option keys.
