I'd just like to second Joar's request to file bug reports. I've been filing radars on this to no avail. Maybe if we get more people to complain....
What really irks me is that the same thing happens in the Documentation Viewer, and there's no workaround for it. You can't jump to the previously viewed help document; the Back button is like a local train that calls at every little stop on the way. I don't need the Back button to be full of hyperlinks in the document I am viewing; I already have a popup button showing all of them. I have to say that Xcode 3.2 has slowed me down a lot in terms of file and documentation navigation (and Find; but that's another story).
