What I meant by missing something is that he had to write down the entire UUID from iTunes since we, at the time, didn't know the trick to do a copy. With such a long series of digits, he could have mistyped one which might have explained why he was always getting the "signer not valid" error.

I have tried to create a distribution ad-hoc provisioning profile, downloaded it and set it in the release config of my app. It seems to work fine on my iPhone but since Xcode is also managing the team provisioning profile, I might have this one, even though I did build my app with the ad-hoc distribution profile.

What I didn't understand from the iPhone Provisioning Portal is on the page where you create the profile itself. You have the choice of Apps Store or Ad-Hoc. I choose "Ad-Hoc" and then the Devices section becomes enabled, even though it says "Devices (optional)". It would seem that devices are not optional when creating an ad-hoc profile since I would get an error each time I was trying to submit until I selected at least one device. So, I was just trying to confirm that I indeed need to select devices for the ad-hoc distribution provisioning profile?
