With due respect, I think that's a non-sequitur. I, for one, am one of those people nearly obsessed with order and organization and, yet, I'm far more comfortable with the many-windows approach than with the one-window-fits-all approach.
People can argue the pros and cons of each approach until the sun explodes into a supernova but at the end of the day it boils down to the following: different people are more comfortable and efficient doing things one way than the other.
Is it possible that people at large could become as efficient switching to the approach they're not comfortable with? Sure, given time, but that's not - in most cases - a cost-effective strategy because it takes too much time. Efficiency in developing software translates directly into financial gain, and conversely.
I am painfully aware that I'm always behind, always playing catch up with all the new APIs, new technologies, new platforms, new devices, etc. I surely don't need to have my productivity slowed down because of the imposition of a new workflow that I'm not efficient with, and when that happens I become less marketable as a developer, in the short run.
So, the next question is: should Apple, for whatever reason, "force" developers into one approach by removing the flexibility that was already existing in XCode 3? My personal opinion is NO. Rather, Apple should allow each developer to use the workflow that best (read: most efficiently) suits him or her. Doing so can only benefit Apple, us developers, and ultimately the users of our products.
And now I'm stepping down the soapbox for others to have their chance to speak. :)
