A single target? One trivial thing to check would be to examine the target "build settings" under the "levels" view for all of the targets. It sounds like the settings under the Architectures tab are different from one target to another.

It's a single target.  Screen shot linked below.  I don't see any inconsistency.

And I wonder how the word "archive"

1. is supposed to tell us this is a static library
2. tells us which architecture it's compiled for
