I'm not comparing Git to other systems. I chose Git only because it was right there in front of me in Xcode. The path of least resistance. I'm sure it's a fine solution.

My home-brew version control system is simplicity personified. I just create a zip archive and date it whenever I've reached some sort of milestone. It's very easy to open up one of the archives and, if necessary, run FileMerge on it, on those rare occasions when I can't remember how to recreate an earlier piece of code.

If time were not an issue, I would enjoy mastering Git, trying out the various GUI applications based on it, and working it into my daily routine. I can see its value. But time is an issue.
