Recently my purse was stolen, and I changed a group of passwords,
including my AppleID.
Today I went to get the new version of Xcode from the Developer site, and
it won't recognize my AppleID password, although it works fine in the
AppStore, (both on my iPad and iMac) and iTunes.
Does anyone have any experience with a similar problem?
Celeste, I had similar issue less than a week ago because I was configuring iMessage and iCloud. Furthermore, both iMessage and iCloud require an e-mail address to configure and I was using a non e-mail addresses for these accounts. Thus, I ended up doing the following:
A account = Apple ID 'kennyf' -> primary e-mail address '
email@hidden' - iTunes and Developer accounts use this Apple ID
a) logged into A
b) the system displayed an option to make my Apple ID the same as my primary e-mail address.
Note: I was wanting to change from non-email address to an e-mail address. e.g. 'kennyf' to '
email@hidden'
c) if there's another Apple ID using the '
email@hidden' as primary e-mail address goto (c). Otherwise, goto (e)
d) login into this B and change the primary e-mail address to something that you don't use a lot or create a bogus
account on Gmail or Yahoo. Wait for the verification e-mail from Apple, follow the instructions, and logout of B.
e) login into A
g) wait for the verification e-mail from Apple, follow the instructions, and logout of A.
i) verify that you can login into both Developer and iTunes accounts using '
email@hidden' as the username
This is a script of what I had to do get everything in sync. Now, I can use iTunes, iMessage, Developer, and iTunes using the
same Apple ID. Furthermore, I had to do it this way because my Developer account has memberships associated with it. Also, Apple ID site doesn't give you the ability to delete Apple ID and your primary e-mail address cannot be a primary e-mail address only once. It appears that you have 2 Apple IDs one for iTunes and one for the Developer account. Please clock the 'Find out' link on the following page to determine if you have additional Apple IDs:
Well, I must go and I hope that the information helps.
Good luck,
-Conrad
