Hi Joar:
Thanks for your comments. It's more than a little frustrating since this issue is old old old.
E.G. Last time I bugreported this was November 2009. I got feedback from Matt Neuberg and the veteran Chris Espinosa.
My bug report then was 7395180 and I got a reply from devbugs which I quote:
"This is a follow up to Bug ID# 7395180. After further investigation it has been determined that this is a known issue, which is currently being investigated by engineering. This issue has been filed in our bug database under the original Bug ID# 6360490. The original bug number being used to track this duplicate issue can be found in the State column, in this format: Duplicate/OrigBug#.:"
So as I said it's old old old....and searching the bug DB for my submission shows it's closed
And to add insult to injury searching for the original of which it is a duplicate returns no such entry in the DB.
It used to be possible to change the size if the System Font (prior to OS X); Chicago I seem to recall. Why can't we do that now with a System Preference?
Then all apps ought to "just work" for Menus and Menu Items at the very least.
Other things such as the various Xcode 4 Panels ought to be application settable since they are application specific.
Anyway if we keep banging away at it sooner or later there's going to be a bunch of older folks at Apple joining my demographic and the momentum will build. (Hope springs eternal...etc)
As to the specific trigger that prompted my action...I am pretending that I am new to Xcode 4.1 and working through the tutorials. (I do like the new single window work flow. at least so far.)
Specifically the Quartz Composer one. I zoomed in (using ctl + mouse ball) and the buttons could not be found and I couldn't move the mouse to the edge of the screen to bring them into view.
Furthermore the zooming was of the entire canvas so that my 2nd monitor, which had the documentation, also zoomed. I didn't want that. One would like to be able to zoom each monitor screen independantly (or at least have the option to do so.) Finally working in full screen mode also made the second monitor data disapper. Ditto for independently Full screening each monitor.
Anyway just the ravings of an aging body but still mostly active mind.... ;}
respect...
