I would have agreed with you until a month or so ago. It used to be really fast, now I type a keyword into the search box and wait, and wait, and wait, minutes go by, Dash pegs a CPU, the fans start, eventually it does return with the answer, normally after about 2 minutes. I've tried everything I can think of, cut the docsets searched down to two (iOS6 and OSX10.8), hasn't made a difference. I really don't quite know where it went wrong.

I actually liked the HUD mode best, but, unable to make it work recently, I've stopped using it entirely and gone back to the Xcode docs window.

Have you contacted the developer about this? I've found him responsive. I imagine he'd want to get to the bottom of the problem (Dash is as fast as ever for me, and I do have the latest version).
