TextMate went open-source (GPL) last week. I don't know if current builds are available to download or if you'd have to build it yourself.

Xcode is both the code highlighting as well as the integration with Git version control 

The Git integration is nice, but you can get that and a whole lot more with the free SourceTree app <http://www.sourcetreeapp.com>. It's indispensable to me. (There's also a bit of Git integration in TextMate 2, apparently, though I haven't tried using it yet.)
