Small update. I re-installing Xcode (ran
Developer/Library/uninstall-devtools; then ran the Install Xcode app),
but the problem still exists - Instruments' Counters and Event
Profiler instruments don't work.
I took a screenshot of the problem last week and forgot to include it.
Here it is: http://i.imgur.com/W4sJY.png
I tried on my MacPro with success:
- I can add events to the Counters instruments
- the Manage PM Events window shows the name of the processor and all
avaliable events.
- recording works.
Any ideas, or is Instruments on the MacBook Air just unsupported?
Adam, did you use Disk Utility application to repair permissions after the
installation process? Also, did you notice any error messages within the
Console application? If not, it would be good to open it and then try to
use instruments making note of the error messages. Last but not least,
I would recommend filing a bug if things persist.
Think different and code well,
