Developer ID inconsistent behavior

  • Subject: Developer ID inconsistent behavior

A new release of one of my products is distributed as an installer package signed with my new Developer ID from Apple. One user reports that it installed the product without incident on one of his 10.7.4 iMacs but failed on an identical iMac. The error was:

"UI Browser.pkg was signed with an invalid certificate. This package might not install what you expect. Do you want to continue with the installation anyway?"

Clicking "Show Certificate" from the dialog box that posted the error, the resulting window showed the specific error: "This certificate was signed by an unknown authority." The window indicated that it was issued by Apple Worldwide Developer Relations Certificate Authority.

When I use the command line to verify the installer's signature, it reports no error.

The installer package was created using Packages 1.1.

What could account for an isolated failure like this, when other installations using the same installer package encounter no difficulty?
