I found a simple and intuitive solution, but it surprises me: I had to add my shared framework to my application target and make it an explicit dependency in the Target Dependencies build phase of my application target.
Our projects have the frameworks as explicit dependencies of the application target and that did not work.
I did notice that "adding a shared framework" to the project in Xcode 4.3.3 "magically" maybe seemed to correct the problem. So, it seems like there is something behind the scenes when adding a framework as opposed to just setting the framework up as a dependency of a target.
When you say "adding a shared framework," do you mean the equivalent of dragging the framework project into the application project and clicking the button to dismiss the resulting dialog? That's what I meant when I said "add my shared framework to my application target," which you have to do before you can set up the explicit dependency build phase. But for me adding the framework project to the application project was not enough; I had to make it an explicit dependency in the dependencies build phase, as well.
I just confirmed this solution with another application project of mine that was exhibiting the same problem in Xcode 4.3.3 but which had built without these changes in 4.3.2.
I can see that this change might be because Apple decided framework dependencies should be called out explicitly instead of working as implicit dependencies. If that is the case, it would have been nice if Apple had gotten some release notes out for 4.3.3 promptly. I had to spend a couple of days stumbling around in the dark to get back on track.
