I think I sold myself a little short there. The problem is that I have enough experience with alerts from Xcode telling me that some other application has altered a file behind its back and that it doesn't know what to do (and neither do I) that I now always quit Xcode first just to be on the safe side. (The fact that the application that altered the file behind Xcode's back is sometimes Xcode itself - for example, I often get issues when I use Xcode to rename a file in a project - does not fill me with confidence either.) m.
