I agree with Jean-Daniel. Don't use the Mac App Store to download Xcode. Just... Don't... Do it! It is a totally unreliable procedure. In addition to the multiple download or failed download problems, it also wipes out the copy of Xcode you already have, even if it's been moved aside into a subfolder - which is precisely contrary to the whole point of putting Xcode in a single app bundle (i.e. it is *supposed* to be easy to keep multiple versions of Xcode on hand).
There is always a plain old .dmg to download via your browser, so use that and be happy. m.
