I unplugged my ethernet cable and then the snapshot worked. I vaguely remember trying to setup SCM with an online repo service so that must be where the error message is coming from. I know it's lame I don't remember who it was with, it was a few years back and I was making my first attempt at utilizing SCM. Point is though, I want to turn it off for now and need to know where this setting can be changed.

git is installed with Xcode. It's in:
/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/usr/bin/git
If you install the command-line tools, it is also available at /usr/bin/git
