It really means "Xcode defaults for OS X" (because there's a different set of defaults for iOS). Those defaults come from various places, including Preferences. For example, compiler defaults (e.g. what warning messages to show) are hard-coded into Xcode -- or are found from querying the compiler itself, perhaps. Even more specifically, I have somehow got a custom path in the "OS X Default" of "Build Products Path". I know I did this at some point, but I don't remember how. How can I change it?
If you didn't change Preferences, check Workspace Settings (File menu), which also has some things that affect the build path.
