Might there be some migration path, or must I needs create a new project and manually integrate the source code into it?

You can still download Xcode 3 and 4 from Apple’s developer site. I don’t remember the exact URL or how to get to it, but there’s a big archive of software, and lots of Xcode versions are there.

If you can open the project with the last Xcode 3 version, it will probably update the file format. AFAIK Xcode 5 still opens the Xcode 3 project format.

Is there a trick to installing Xcode 3.2.6 on an OS X 10.8 system? In the installer, it shows "skip" for the Xcode Toolset, and the selection is unchecked and grayed out. Proceeding with the install will require 40.7MB.
Something's wrong…

Might there be a way to extract only the Xcode Toolset from the .mpkg file?
