adding a language for syntax highlighting in xcode4

  • Subject: adding a language for syntax highlighting in xcode4

I've been trying to add Lua syntax highlighting to xcode4 for a couple
of days now with no luck. I ran the script from this project:

https://github.com/breinhart/Lua-In-Xcode

It worked as far as I can go to Editor > Syntax Coloring > Lua and
mark a source file as highlighted according to the rules for the Lua
language. However, if I look at the inspector for the file under
Identity and Type it says File Type: "Default - Plain Text".

Looking at the drop down menu, there's no listing for the Lua language
under any of the Sourcecode headings. As a result, after I set the
syntax highlighting for a file, if I then close my project and reopen
it, the syntax highlighting association is gone and I'm back to square
one.

My questions are:

1) Has anyone successfully added a sourcecode element (ideally this
would be under Sourcecode Scripting Languages) to the File Type menu?
2) How do I keep my syntax highlighting preferences associated with a
file. This is a file that's under a folder item where the file itself
is not directly part of the project but is there by the fact that it's
within the folder.

thanks!
wes
