I don't know about you, but I want the tools we use to be better.
Occasionally, when people talk with each other, they can understand the problem better, or see areas about the issue that they were not privy to.
I have filed reports.
But what I see in the UI for 5.0 are what appear to be arbitrary changes made to a functional UI (that we rely on) that appear to have no connection to making the product better for the users
Cases in point:
Removing the alternating line colors in rows? How is this better for us?
Implementing a stark white interface that is hard in the eyes? How is this better for us?
I have files reports.
What are the driving user demands for these changes? I can not see any. These are steps back for the user.
I don't know about you, but I am used to being part of a community and making changes happen as part of a community. Only by talking about the issues as a community are we able to get a consensus and common understanding about what should be changed or improved.
When the product that we use is not driven by the needs of the user base and perfectly functioning items are changed for questionable motivations, it is our duty to get a consensus, get together and petition Apple to stop doing things that are not helping us and fix the issues we need.
If all our reports are individual voices in the wind, we can not effectively ask for changes we need.
It bothers me that while the UI gets one item fixed that has bothered me for over a year and a half, other changes have been made that make the UI less useful that seem to have no user driven desire for them to be introduced.
And since when on an email list that is dedicated to the tool we are using is it forbidden to discussing the issues we like and dislike about the product?
Isn't the overall goal to understand the product, understand the issues and help make it better so it suits our own needs?
If you don't talk about what's wrong, how can you make it right?
