I don't know about you, but I want the tools we use to be better.

People disagree about what “better” means, especially when it comes to subjective stuff. (Case in point: I think Xcode 5 looks a lot better than Xcode 4.)

Occasionally, when people talk with each other, they can understand the problem better, or see areas about the issue that they were not privy to.

I don’t see a lot of that in the many, many, many long-running Xcode bitch threads over the past years. Mostly it’s just people flaming, and repeating the same damn points over and over again. I’ve lost count of how many times you’ve brought up the animations in the UI (sometimes derailing a completely unrelated thread.) It’s not productive.

If you’ve been an Apple developer for any length of time you’ll know that Apple is not super interested in outside feedback on their UIs. As I’ve pointed out here many times (and I know this from having worked at Apple) the people with authority to make high-level design decisions do not read these mailing lists and don’t care about what individual people say in them. (Some of the UI designers I worked with barely even cared what the engineers developing the product thought.)

UI complaints here are just going into an echo chamber and annoying the rest of us who just want to get work done and discuss technical issues.
