This sort of thing seems like such a bad idea. It may be harmless (and solve the immediate problem), but you don’t know the consequences. And, FWIW, it ignores the underlying problem, so whatever was wrong probably isn’t fixed and will probably bite you again in the future.

This is a serious problem when an important beta customer urgently needs [urgent needs snipped]

I’m not being entirely serious here, but, seriously, can’t we avoid getting into the “my suffering is worse than your suffering” mindset?

If you have an urgent situation, then the correct strategy is to pick up the phone and call Developer Program Support (*not* Developer Tech Support) at their convenient toll-free number. DPS *lives* to solve Xcode provisioning profile download problems. It’s possible that you may end up on hold for a long time, but usually you get to talk to a person in Texas within a few minutes.

In a not-so-urgent case, emailing Developer Program Support works well, too. The response usually comes back within a couple of hours.
