We = our team.
But honestly, I have no idea what you are referring to by "sharing or preserving workspaces".
Each team member uses a checked out repo of the workspace. No one "shares" workspaces between macs.

The constituent projects may be in arbitrary locations, the expectation being that each developer should be free to place them, or to include or omit constituents, as desired, without the need to coordinate with others. Different developers have different work, and different needs for a working set.

Again, we have a source code repo (SVN) that we (our team) are using to make sure our projects are synched to.
No idea if you're referring to using file sharing to "share" the workspace, or some other method, but we're not doing that.
As to "preserving workspaces", you've got me there. I've got no idea what this might be.
