Hi Alex,

How, using Xcode's UI, do I add all of these files to the git repo?  Is there any option?

I really don’t know why you keep using XCode for git? You’d make your source control life a lot easier by using a third party app to do it.

Because when the tool supports it, it’s what you tend to use.

But it’s broken and had been for ages on top of that and you keep hitting problems with it and posting here, not that that’s a bad thing, but if you keep hitting the same old problems with a broken tool then I tend to throw away the old that’s broken and use a new one!

Think about it.

Now, I have to look into, do I want to use the terminal, do I want to use a 3rd party app?  If so, which one?

There are only two that I know of, GitTower around $30 I think and SourceTrees, free!

Whenever I look at previous versions of a file in Xcode, I’m using Xcode UI to handle access to git.

What would be most helpful is mentioning a 3rd party tool that is better than Xcode that I could be using.

GitTower!

Honestly, It’s things like this where Xcode works most of the time, but in this case, the UI makes using the tool worse.  Most of the time, It’s good enough.  And when you do find the need for another tool, since you haven’t been using one, it’s a another task you have to source and resolve.

True, but when it doesn’t work, it hurts!

So, Dave.  Any suggestions rather than just pointing me into the wilderness?

I’ve mentioned GitTower and SourceTrees over and over on here in the past! Maybe you missed them…...

Thanks, man.

No probs, I’d throughly recommend GitTower, easy to use, works ok with XCode and really good support should you need it!

All the Best
Dave
