I probably just gave you the wrong one. More troubling is that the Apple developer mail lists are so unmaintained now that there’s no admin to even make sure the lights are still on. This doesn’t bode well for the future of these mailing lists
No, it’s clear there’s no real future for these mailing lists. The indications are that Apple will let them linger so long as it isn’t any work for them to keep the list servers up. I have no doubt, though, that Apple does not just shut them down because it understands that this is a valuable community. We continue in the margin between those two things, for now. I guess the Developer Forums is where we need to go?
You can, and you can get all bent outta shape because the UI has glaring faults, but I recommend you just decide not to invest any energy in hating it. It comes pre-hated.
In terms of content, the developer forums are quite reasonable, and quite well supported by Apple engineer participation. The main problem is there are a lot of very new and very clueless developers asking very basic questions, so you have to wade through a lot of stuff you don’t want to see. |
