OS 9's finder disturbing behaviour

Hi all,

I only recently went from 8.6 to 9.1.
Now, everytime the finder is told to do something, it becomes frontmost. This is particularily disturbing for a script I'm working on nowadays with a gui and many buttons to interact, everytime one of the buttons triggers a handler that involves the finder, the script window goes background, requiring one more click to bring it frontmost.

Am I the only one disturbed with this, is there any solution?
As a side note, the main thing I use the finder for is resolving an alias, is there a vanilla way of resolving w/o the finder?

Thanks,

Serge
