Well, yes. And you can script just about anything in any app with Player.

I haven't hit that problem at all. There's always a chance that the printer
is at fault.

Again, I have a script at a client's that uses Distiller 5 and Suitcase, and
it works just fine. It runs hundreds of times a day, each time opening and
closing groups of fonts for particular jobs.

Nonsense. But it looks like it did have little or no QA performed on the
scripting -- they seem to have waltzed of to Java Land instead.
(Yes, I prefer, and mainly use, v4 too -- it's much faster, for a start. But
being able to script export directly _is_ a step forward. Try exporting
pages as TIFFs in version 4.)
