just to bring it to the front. Same just to quit it! Is there any way to
get it to package itself with a proper icon and appear in the dock?

Have you tried logging out and back in? (Heaven forbid [1]) restart?

A lot of times when icons or other package-related stuff seems to not get updated, logging out seems to solve it.

[1] That phrase doesn't sound so nice on my part towards you...so...explanation before everyone tries to kill me: Who actually restarts their OS X box? I mean, if it weren't for the 10.2.3 update, I'd have an uptime of over two weeks on this thing.
