Restart worked - nothing else did. So there. ;-) Still needed.
Drag and drop works. Script Editor's got an icon and drags to the dock.
Furthermore, it does not have a generic application icon as you all said -
it's got the regular Script Editor icon, which is what I had expected.
All's well that ends well, I think.
