I seem to remember lots of fuss and developers pining and whining about how
everything is broken and nothing works anymore, oh that goddamned Apple!
Granted, back then it was move to the upp model and a recompile -- voila! My
point being not to make a memberwise comparison 'twixt the two transitions
(I admit the OS X transition is order(s) of magnitude more complex), but
just to remind folks we've had the floors removed from underneath us before,
but when the dust settles we've got this entirely new and cool OS to play
around with.
And I emphasize again and again, there is _another_ operating system out
there that gets re-incarnated every year and half, and developers for that
platform need to anticipate all the various quirks of each incarnation.
Imagine transitioning to OS X not just one time, but once every year.
Of course, the question begging to be asked: how much would you pay for an
Apache OSA CGI module? Less than $400 I take it : ) I might just take a
peek at this.
