script's file size zero whe listed in unix shell

Hi,

Can someone please enlighten me as to why all my
compiled AppleScripts show a file size of zero whe
listed in unix shell?

I'm trying to recursively grep through directories
containing AppleScripts to locate the scripts that
call a particular function. However, I can't seem to
do anything with the files via the unix shell... like,
I can't "cat" or "strings" or "grep" the files
because, I assume, the file size is zero. What gives?

Thanks,

-John
