Yet...
The infamous repealed technote was full of these prognostications, along with "use pathnames instead of aliases" and other goofy mandates. Of course, this technote was pulled because it was so stupid, but because it was written by Avie, it will be back.
While I would like to see Apple make HFS+ available to the Unix world, I expect that instead they will attempt to wean us off of such archaic Macintosh specific technologies.
Only time will tell if I am right or wrong here.
