I think you'd better tell us what exactly you're talking about. If it's
script editor, go to Software Update and update to AppleScript 1.8.3, which
will include a new Script Editor. If it's no longer available there, go to
the Apple Software site and download it (1.8.3 for OS X of course, not OS
9).

I appear to have corrupted my current version of AS Editor 1.8.3
which has now been consigned to the Trash. I have visited the Apple
Download site & retrieved the 2.2mb download. I duly re-install the
programme & restart but nothing happens. No new AS folder, no new AS
Editor, no new nothing.
Is there something blatantly obvious that I'm missing?

I've discovered that AS Script Editor 1.8.3 cannot be downloaded from
the Apple site. It can only be re-installed direct from the OSX
installation. I am assuming an entire re-install of the entire OSX.
