But why do you say that? I mean, poor compared to what? When I compare
developer support for AS to Windows developer support for VBA, it makes me
happy I'm using a Mac. And with Apple releasing AS Studio and GUI scripting
(drawbacks notwithstanding) and extensive scripting support for apps like
QuickTime and iTunes, it doesn't seem as if AS's profile is getting lower.

While this is one way to look at it, I think it treats developers in a more
stereotypical way than is warranted. Developers are users, too. Developers
who put AS in their applications usually have already drunk the AS kool-aid;
I'd expect such as them to know the difference between GUI scripting and AS
scripting. Further, implementing AS is hard. If a developer isn't on-board
with the philosophy behind AS, the implementation is likely to be so shoddy
as to be worthless, anyway.

Geez, why so much animosity toward developers? ;)
I hope you're wrong to take such a pessimistic view of AS's future. To me,
GUI scripting has more pluses than minuses, but we'll see.
