Losing work would piss anybody off, but I have my doubts that what you are
saying actually happened.

The command in that URL states:

action=new&script

If it "inserted" or "appended" the script text to a script that you were
working on, then the "applescript://" scheme has some serious flaws that
*Apple* had better work out.

Can you replicate it?
