The "auto-open a script when you click a e-mail" is worse than
annoying, it is destructive.
The link looks completely harmless to me. On my machine Script Editor
pops up a new window for every script it opens through the
"applescript:" protocol mechanism - nothing is written over or
deleted.
If that is what happened to you, you most likely should file a bug
report towards Apple.
I know the behavior is supposed to open a new window but this time it
definitely didn't. I only had one script window open at the time and
when the script went there I only closed one window. Somehow it
glitched and didn't open up a new window but instead took over the
already open window and replaced the contents.
I've since tried to replicate the bug but I haven't been able to. I'll
probably file it as a bug but I hate to do so if I've only seen the
behavior once.
Regardless of the default behavior this "feature" is just plain
annoying. If I want something to open in an application then I'll save
it to disk and open it myself. Pop-up browser windows are an annoyance
and the pop-up scripts are just as bad.
