All that waffle to avoid agreeing that what we have here is a poorly implemented attempt at copy protection. One that breaks my DVD2PSP script when I try to move file (using the Finder or the shell). And an undocumented one to boot .

To me, it sounds like it could be just a bug in UDF. But I work on the Finder, not UDF, so I can't say for sure. Please file a bug report with the details, so someone can investigate.

Damn, I filed a bug report and then did a little more digging:

Aug 19 14:28:26 Diones-Computer kernel[0]: KauthORama.ConfigureKauth: scope = com.apple.kauth.fileop, prefix = /Volumes/LOTR_TWO_TOWERS_D1/ VIDEO_TS/
Aug 19 14:28:43 Diones-Computer kernel[0]: scope=com.apple.kauth.fileop, action=KAUTH_FILEOP_OPEN, uid=501, vnode=0x59e4108, path=/Volumes/LOTR_TWO_TOWERS_D1/VIDEO_TS/VTS_01_1.VOB
Aug 19 14:28:44 Diones-Computer kernel[0]: SAM Multimedia: READ or WRITE failed, ASC = 0x6f, ASCQ = 0x03
Aug 19 14:28:44 Diones-Computer kernel[0]: disk3: privilege violation.
Aug 19 14:28:44 Diones-Computer kernel[0]: udf_read: error 13

Snooping on Authorization Services suggests that Tiger has some additional undocumented *features* rather than bugs.

Obviously out of the scope of AS, but it would be a lot easier to deal with this sort of thing if the error messages were a little more verbose... or documented :(
