I suspect you will always be able to install it from source, both crond and the crontab tool. They are, after all GPL-licensed stuff now and some of us really want compatibility with Linux. Launchd is not GPL though I have seen it's source code advertised somewhere - Sourceforge?.

As for being extremely @#$%^. I'm still using 10.3.9 because, to go higher, I have to give up my third son, my SE/30 file server that is just now reaching drinking age at 21. I remain @#$%^ about that.
AppleScript for Linux, anyone??? I'm seriously considering a merge of gedit and tcsh to create GPW to replace MPW on this 8500 because it has been killed by Apple for OS neXt..
