Thanks... this worked.

For anyone else reading...

I had to save the script as a bundled app not just a simple application in order for the solution to work. Dockless then worked to make the changes without the manual hacking.

For application bundles (.app), you can specify the LSUIElement key in the
bundle's Info.plist file. For example:

Hiding a Login Item, whether managed by MCX or not (which it sounds like
you're doing), just tells the system not to show its windows. It's the
equivalent of choose the "Hide <application name>" command Do not post admin requests to the list. They will be ignored.
