The difference between the two is how the white point is handled.
Absolute Colorimetric honours the device white point whereas Relative
adjusts it.
Absolute Colorimetric is rarely used by humans outside of testing
profiles and colour management setups.
I haven't seen the Wikipedia article, but I wonder if they mention
Adobe's customisation of Relative Colorimetric which allows you to
choose to compensate for differences in Black Point?
