Too bad it won't work with other file formats that graphics pros tend
to work with.

Hi
There's an Automator action here: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/automator/writeiptctagstojpegs.html
Haven't tried it myself.
Alternatively, try Googling various combinations of Applescript and
IPTC.

Hello everybody,
Is there a smart (applescript) way to assign a keyword to a file
without opening it in Photoshop?
This is how I would do it in Photoshop (version 11): File -> File
info. And then the "Keyword" textarea under the first tab
"Description".
Background info: I am a user of Extensis Portfolio (version 9.0).
I'm a fan of Portfolio's powerful "Watched Folder" feature to
collect images and automatically adding them to a catalog and (last
but not least) extracting keywords from the added files.
Thanks for any help.
Bert.
