The decision to move to Lion was made by you. Now you have a computer running an OS that does not support your preferred text editor. You did this regardless of the fact that you had been in communication with developer and you knew that the new release of the software wasn't available yet. You did it knowing that you have thousands of documents which rely on the software. That was a pretty stupid thing to do.

If you consider my preparations for installing Lion as stupid actions, please help me by providing some helpful suggestions.
Hi Jeff,
Having used a number of software and hardware solutions that disappeared from the market, I feel your pain. But, as an independent observer, I'd say Malcolm *did* imply a helpful suggestion, which is to hold off switching to Lion until TE+ becomes available for that OS.
You state that you want to move to Lion quickly (and perhaps you have good reason for doing so). But I have to wonder if the benefits of an earlier move to Lion will offset your "cost" in terms of time, effort, and frustration to convert all those TE+ files? Would a few weeks delay be as disruptive as your conversion work?
I don't want to come across as uncivil, but only want to call your attention to Malcolm's implied suggestion, since you seemed to have missed it.
Regards, Stan C.
