In addition to Snow Leopard installed on 40GB partition on my internal HD, I have five 40GB partitions on an external FW HD reserved for OS installation. I have installed Lion, Snow Leopard, Leopard, another Lion and one is still empty. If I need to reinstall, I simply erase and install.

I have seen the phrase "recovery partition" used often, but I've never seen one of these.
Exactly what is this and how is one created?

What about Lion's "abysmal scroll function" in AppleScript Editor and Smile? It's really awful!
