Editor is the AppleScript-Editor v2.3 of OSX 10.6.8.
Anyway, the problem is so annoying that I have made a small but effective remedy for it:
-I saved a copy of the file "com.apple.applescript" somewhere
-I've written a small script storing/retrieving that file and reinstalling it in the folder preferences.
-I call that script via the scriptmenu
BTW, I do that for quite a few plist's, because many of them (ie Finder window sidebar, dock.db, etc) "loose" their memory from time to time
I just do not have now an example at hand, but I'll send you one once I get one...
