Jean, all is in the eyes of the beholder, however, Smile works with Quartz and QT, you don’t have to do anything other that use Smile.

Yes, but then you have Cocoa objects, you can write a full fledge application

This is a good point, and it brings up something interesting, when the personal assistants become more prevalent and ubiquitous environments will have to change to accommodate this change, otherwise it will be messy….

Well, ask Has to bring back AppScript and you can add Python and Ruby to the mix.
There was also a Perl bridge, but I really liked has’ Python (I’ve never used the Ruby version)
There is also JAX.
And Python by itself has some inter application scripting components.
There is one thing that no one seems to talk about AS that I find fundamental.
Currently AS provides one with the best environment to do some programming.
Nothing is more comforting than knowing we can fire up ScriptEditor and do some basic programming either to solve the usual inter application problems, as well as solve, as it is in my case, some fancy undergraduate mathematical problem.
Don’t get me wrong, for mathematics, nothing beats Python, it has fantastic modules and on top of that, it has the unparalleled environment, Jupiter (former iPython).
But however good and powerful it is not as simple as ScriptEditor.
And another point, Apple is working to develop the Swift playground, I honestly believe that AS is a better starting playground for programming, if you don’t believe me ask Has how he got started…
